SUNY Brockport Athletics has announced the hiring of alumna
Jordan Thompson '23 as an Athletic Trainer with the Golden Eagles sports medicine staff. Thompson will work alongside
Suzanna Sylcox with football and cross country in the fall, serve as the primary athletic trainer for swim & dive in the winter, and women's flag football in the spring, while supporting injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and daily athletic training operations.
Thompson returns to her alma mater after earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia in 2026. During her graduate program, she completed Division I clinical rotations with Virginia Football and Virginia Softball, as well as an immersive experience with University at Buffalo Football, collaborating with sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff, and coaches to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for student-athletes.
A Brockport alumna and former standout volleyball student-athlete, Thompson graduated magna cum laude in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and a minor in coaching. On the court, she earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2022 and 2023, was a two-time AVCA All-Region selection, a two-time First Team All-SUNYAC performer, and received CSC Academic All-District recognition. She also helped guide Brockport to the 2019 SUNYAC Conference title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championships.
"I am so excited to return to Brockport and begin my career with the Golden Eagles," said Thompson. "Brockport played such an important role in my development as both a student-athlete and a person, so having the opportunity to come back and care for the next generation of Golden Eagles is truly special. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an outstanding sports medicine staff, and I look forward to building relationships with our student-athletes while helping them perform at their highest level."
Thompson is board certified, holds Mental Health First Aid and American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certifications, and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
