Brockport, NY – This weekend the SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team is heading to Oswego, NY to compete at the Oswego State Invitational. The Golden Eagles will take on Oswego (2pm) and Western Connecticut (6pm) on Friday, before playing Canton (10am) and Pitt-Bradford (2pm) on Saturday.

2-0 at RIT: The Golden Eagles swept the competition at the RIT Tri-Match to improve to 5-4 overall on the season. Brockport defeated Alfred State, 3-1, and RIT, 3-1, for a 2-0 showing in Rochester on Saturday.
 
Brockport 3, Alfred State 1 – Match 1 Final
The first set belonged to the Golden Eagles in a hard-fought, 26-24, battle. Alfred State then bounced back with a 25-20 win in the second to tie the match up at 1-1. Brockport then won the third set, 25-21, and the fourth set, 25-16, to earn the 3-1 win.
 
Madisen Jones led the team with 16 kills in the match, while Alexis Sison had 12 and Luba Butcher had 10. Kaitlyn Jewett registered 37 assists from her setter spot.
 
Butcher tied Gianna Felipe for the team-lead with 14 digs to go with 13 from Sison. Maddy Howell and Madisen Jones both finished with three block assists.
 
Brockport 3, RIT 1 – Match 2 Final
The hosting Tigers took the first set of the match, 25-17, before the Golden Eagles went on a tear. They would take the next three sets to earn the 3-1 win by scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-20.
 
Alexis Sison had 12 kills to pace the offensive effort, with Luba Butcher close behind with 11. Kaitlyn Jewett totaled 33 assists connecting with her teammates.
 
Defensively, Grace Ippoliti was busy with 10 digs for a team-high in the match. Maddy Howell got up for five total blocks in the middle (1 solo, 4 assisted).
 
E8 Rookie of the Week: On Monday, Luba Butcher was selected as the Empire 8 Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week. Luba Butcher had another big weekend for Brockport out at RIT. She did it all with a stat line of 21 kills, 21 digs, a .260 attack percentage, three service aces, and two block assists across the two matches. She had 14 digs and 10 kills in a four-set win over Alfred State and hit .292 with 11 kills in a win over RIT.
 
Alumni Game for Homecoming: Following this week's trip to Oswego, Brockport begins preparation for some fun next weekend at home. As part of the Homecoming Weekend celebration, the volleyball team is welcoming back alumni for a game at 10am on Saturday, September 27^th in The Vlog.
 
Back in Action: The Golden Eagles get back to work on October 3^rd, for a Friday night matchup against St. John Fisher (6pm)  to open Empire 8 play on the road.
