BROCKPORT, N.Y – The SUNY Brockport Field Hockey team will head to #25 Rochester on Friday, September 5
th at 4 pm.
Last Weekend: The Golden Eagles opened the 2025 season with a pair of victories, defeating Allegheny in overtime 2-1 before downing Juniata College 4-3 on Sunday, August 31
st.
Terralyn McLaughlin was excellent throughout, providing strong defense while adding an assist and a shot on goal in a strong effort.
Cassidy Pado and
Sophia Jones (1G) each added three shots on net in strong outings.
Makenna Hart led the way for Brockport, leading all players with four shots on goal and two goals in a standout offensive performance.
Starting Strong: Seeing her first game action as a Golden Eagle,
Lauren Mastromarco picked up her first two victories as Brockport's goalkeeper. The sophomore from Wappingers Falls, NY, racked up six saves with just one goal allowed in Brockport's OT win over Allegheny. Mastromarco holds a 2-0 record with a 1.96 GAA across her first two career starts.
Freshman Firsts: The Golden Eagles' freshman class powered the offense over the past weekend, accounting for 66% of Brockport's goals scored.
Makenna Hart (2G),
Elise Brady, and
Ava Sanchez all notched their first goals for Brockport, including Hart's two-goal and five-shot performance against Juniata. Sanchez's goal against Allegheny would serve as the game-winner.
Scouting Rochester: The Yellowjackets landed at #25 in the preseason NFHCA D3 National Coaches Poll, jumping out to a 3-0 start with wins over Ohio Wesleyan, Kenyon, and Nazareth. Rochester is coming off a successful 2024 season, finishing 17-4 with a 5-2 mark in Liberty League contests.
