Brockport, NY – The men's and women's cross country teams opened up the 2025 season at home, hosting the Tom Balon Alumni Classic. The men's team took fifth overall, and the women's team had a dominating day, finishing first. The Brockport alumni men took first, and the women finished sixth.
Men's Team – Transfer grad student Aidan Mayer finished first for the Golden Eagles with a mark of 16:15.3, good for 23
rd overall.
Coming in second for Brockport and 31
st overall was
Howie Vargas, crossing the line at 16:25.4.
Chris Cammisa finished shortly after in 34
th place and third for the Green and Gold at 16:31.4.
Finishing back-to-back in 39
th and 40
th were Caleb Belanger and Timothy Smith. Belanger put up a time of 16:37.2, and Smith at 16:37.3.
Women's Team - Ethne Degan made her mark, finishing first for Brockport and third overall at a time of 19:02.1.
Freshman Salma Moumen made an impressive debut at Brockport, taking fourth overall at a mark of 19:22.6.
Coming in third for the Golden Eagles and 15
th overall was Emily Leo, putting up a time of 19:57.5.
Maeve Robarge finished up in 20
th overall at a time of 20:11.6.
Sierra Basco and Esther Nankumba crossed the line just a place apart at 23
rd and 24
th with Basco at 20:18.2 and Nankumba at 20:19.2.
Alum – Alum
Jared Smith had a strong race, finishing first overall at a time of 15:32.1.
Gabe Winters-Bona and
Patrick Klinger finished back-to-back, taking third and fourth overall. Winters-Bona crossed the line at 15:40.5, and Klinger had a mark of 15:45.1.
Kerry Flower also showed out for the women's race finishing first overall at a quick time of 18:19.3.
Mia Vizcaino brought the heat, taking sixth overall in the meet at a time of 19:28.7.
Next Weekend – The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday, September 20
th, where they will travel to the University of Rochester for the Yellow Jacket Invitational starting at 10am.
