Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport gymnastics team is hosting Ithaca College on Saturday, January 10
th for a 2pm dual meet. It marks the Golden Eagles' first home meet of the season at the Tuttle North Gymnastics Center.
Season Opening Tri: The Golden Eagles were at Rutgers University last weekend to take on Rutgers and Temple to start the season. Competing against a pair of Division I programs, Brockport placed third at the meet with a final team score of 189.100.
Kay With a Big Day: Lienna Kay represented the Golden Eagles as their lone all-around gymnast at the meet, competing in all four events. Totaling a 38.275, Kay took second place behind Rutgers' Gabrielle Dildy's 39.325 in the all-around competition.
Beam Team: Brockport's showing on the beam at the meet was highlighted by a dazzling performance by
Lienna Kay. With a 9.750 she placed third on the balance beam behind a pair of gymnasts from Rutgers.
Kiara Hockman tied for fifth place in the event thanks to a score of 9.675. Freshman
Alyssa Strain contributed a 9.425 in her debut for the Golden Eagles on the beam. They would take away a 46.500 from the first rotation in New Jersey.
On the Floor: On the floor the squad earned a 48.225 for a total score in rotation two. It would be the team's best event score of the day.
Kiara Hockman shined for the Green and Gold with a 9.775, tying for fifth place.
Jamarie Saravia's 9.725 tied her for ninth place in the event. Brockport also saw a 9.650 from
Claire Wood and a 9.625 by
Emma Brookins on the floor.
Vault Recap: Hockman would once again lead the team's scoring as Brockport moved over to the vault for the third rotation. She would earn a 9.750 on the vault, placing third in the event at the meet. With a 9.550 and a 9.500 respectively,
Lienna Kay (12
th) and
Emma Langdon (14
th) each made the top 15 for the vault. The Golden Eagles added 47.575 to their total from their turn on the vault.
Uneven Bars Last: Brockport would score 46.800 points on the bars to create the team final of 189.100 for the meet. Tied for 11
th place in the event,
Lienna Kay's 9.575 paced Brockport's scoring on the bars.
Charlotte Raymond (14
th) hit a 9.400 and
Celina Satter's (15
th) debut score of 9.300 were good for a spot in the top 15 for the event.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles will be on the road again next weekend for another tri-meet, as they head to the Golden Girls Classic at East Michigan University.
