Brockport, NY – This weekend the SUNY Brockport gymnastics team is heading down to Collegeville, PA for a dual meet matchup against Ursinus College. The event is scheduled for 1pm at Ursinus' Helfferich Hall on Sunday, February 1
st.

Recent Schedule Change: This past weekend, Brockport's scheduled trip to compete at the Cornell Quad Meet was cancelled due to extreme weather throughout the state. The event will not have a makeup date.
Team Rankings So Far: The Golden Eagles are currently holding on to a season average score of 190.467, which ranks fourth in the NCGA. With a 48.292 average score on the floor, Brockport ranks fourth in the nation on the event. Moving to the balance beam, the squad's 47.817 season average is second in the nation. The vault season average currently stands at 47.750 for fourth in the rankings, while a 46.608 on the bars sits at sixth.
Hockman's Hot Start: Kiara Hockman has been amazing to start the season, already earning a pair of NCGA East Weekly honors for her performances. With great versatility on display, she ranks inside the top three nationally on the vault, balance beam, and floor exercise. With an average of 9.783 on the vault she ranks first in the nation. On the balance beam she sits at second in the current rankings, averaging 9.783 once again. Kiki's season-best of 9.875 on the beam, is the highest score for the event in the NCGA so far this year. Finally, her season average of 9.792 on the floor ranks third in the nation.
Other Golden Eagles Making Noise: In the all-around category, Brockport's
Lienna Kay ranks fifth in the NCGA with her average of 37.238. To go with that, her season-best total of 38.275 is the second highest score in the nation this season. On the bars,
Emma Brookins posted a 9.750 to start the year, which is still tied for the fourth-best score on the event so far this year. Earning an average of 9.700 on the balance beam,
Alexis Schulman is currently sixth in the nation. Teammate
Amelia York's top beam score of 9.800 is tied for the fourth-best score in the NCGA so far this year.
Gaining Momentum: Looking to improve each day as the season progresses, the Golden Eagles have seen improvement all over the lineup. Here is a breakdown of the gymnasts that have earned higher scores recently:
Emma Brookins – Improved upon her 8.875 on January 10
th with a 9.675 on the 17
th on the floor exercise.
Shannon Gibbs – Scored a 9.400 on January 10
th and came back on the 17
th with a 9.650 on the vault.
Lienna Kay – On the balance beam, her recent 9.725 on January 17
th improved upon her 9.525 on the 10
th.
Emma Langdon – After posting a 9.475 on the vault on January 10
th, she jumped up to a 9.650 in her performance.
Alyssa Strain – Starting her collegiate career with a 9.425 on the balance beam, she has since improved each week to a 9.725 and most recently a 9.750.
Gracie Weaver – She scored a 9.350 back on January 10
th, and most recently improved to earn a score of 9.450 no the 17
th.
Claire Wood – With her routine on the floor, Claire recently scored a 9.725 to improve from January 10
th's score of 9.425.
Ursinus This Season: The Ursinus College Bears have a 1-1 mark in dual action so far this season. To start the year they scored a 186.200 to defeat Cortland at home in Helfferich Hall. Then the following weekend a 188.475 wasn't enough against Ithaca College's 189.950. As a team, the Bears currently own an average of 187.338 for the season so far. Erin Roe highlights the lineup, as the top ranked all-around gymnast in the NCGA rankings. She holds an average score of 38.100 and her season-best of 38.500 is the highest all-around score in the nation so far this year.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles will be on the road again next Sunday for more dual meet action. They head to Ithaca College for a 2pm meet on February 8
th.
