BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Ice Hockey team (9-12, 5-6-1 UCHC) will host Nazareth University (12-6-3, 6-5-1 UCHC) in the Face Off Against Cancer Game on Friday, February 13th at 7 PM. The Golden Eagles will head to the Tim Horton's Iceplex on Saturday to take on the Golden Flyers at 7 PM.

Last Outing: The Golden Eagles came up short against Albertus Magnus College at home, 3-2, on Saturday, February 7th. 

Kaleb Miller would open the scoring, putting Brockport ahead 1-0 at 7:48 into the first period. Dominic Chirico would notch his first assist of the season, with Brody Seitz adding his seventh assist of the year on the Miller goal.

Excellent puck movement would bring Brockport within one, with excellent passes from Nick Reif and Matthew Lee setting up an empty net for Manny Sanchez. 

Matthew Lee led the Golden Eagles with six shots, adding an assist, serving as his ninth of the season. 

Josh Higgins sacrificed his body throughout the contest, leading all skaters with four blocked shots.

Jacob Gates, Kaleb Miller (G), and Schuyler Flansburg were all assets on the ice for Brockport, all finishing with a +1 rating.

UCHC Outlook: Four teams have already clinched their spot in the UCHC Tournament, with Utica (12-0 UCHC), Geneseo (9-3), Chatham (8-4), and Albertus Magnus (7-7) all qualifying for the postseason. Trailing fifth-place Nazareth (6-5-1, 19 points) by three conference points, the Golden Eagles (16 points) can jump the Golden Flyers with a weekend sweep at home. If the UCHC Tournament started today, Brockport would head to #3-seeded Chatham in Pittsburgh, PA, on Wednesday, February 25th. 

Defensive Prowess: In his first season with the Green and Gold, freshman Kyle Kussmann has been a two-way standout for the Green and Gold. Across 20 games played, Kussmann has provided a team-high 13 assists, adding four goals to lead the squad with 17 points on the season. Playing to a +2 rating on the season, Kussmann has totaled 14 blocked shots, racking up eight points in his last five games.

Scouting Nazareth: The Golden Flyers are coming off a weekend sweep of St. John Fisher, defeating the Cardinals, 2-1, last Saturday. Brockport has posted a solid 4-2-1 record against Nazareth dating back to the 2016 season.
