Men's Basketball Returns to The Vlog for Senior Day Weekend

Brockport, NY – After a dominant weekend on the road, the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team returns to the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium riding a four-game winning streak. The Golden Eagles are set to host their final two home games of the regular season, beginning with a Friday night clash against SUNY Poly on February 13th at 7:30 p.m. The weekend concludes with a Senior Day matchup against Utica on Saturday, February 14th at 4 p.m. As the Green and Gold (11-11, 7-6) look to cement their rhythm before heading into the postseason, they aim to capitalize on the momentum gained from a perfect 3-0 week.

Aybar Named E8 Rookie of the Week

The Empire 8 Conference announced on Monday that freshman Pharell Aybar has been named the Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and the fifth time this season. The Washington Heights, NY native has become the high-octane engine of the Brockport backcourt during their current surge.

Aybar's week was punctuated by a career-best performance in a 94-85 win over St. John Fisher, where he dropped 29 points on a clinical 12-of-19 shooting—the most field goals made by any Golden Eagle in a single game this year. Over the three-game stretch, Aybar averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. On the season, he now leads the roster in assists (3.1 APG) and has solidified himself as a premier two-way threat in the conference.

Scouting the Wildcats

The Golden Eagles open the weekend with a chance at redemption. The Wildcats currently sit as the #3 seed in the Empire 8 standings and hold a 2-1 all-time series lead over Brockport. In their last meeting, the Wildcats handed the Golden Eagles their toughest loss of the season, a 94-64 defeat. However, Brockport enters the rematch a different team. Having just avenged earlier losses to Nazareth and St. John Fisher last weekend, the Green and Gold are looking to maintain momentum.

Scouting the Pioneers

Saturday's finale marks Senior Day at The Vlog, featuring a pivotal matchup against a Utica squad that currently sits at #4 in the Empire 8 standings. The all-time series between the two programs is tied at 1-1, with the Pioneers taking the most recent contest in an 81-77 decision on their home floor.

The Pioneers arrive at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium looking to maintain their position in the top half of the conference. For Brockport, this serves as the final home contest of the regular season and a chance to flip the script on their previous road loss to Utica.

Up Next: Following this weekend's home slate, the Golden Eagles will prepare for the final stretch of the regular season as they look to carry their momentum into a critical road finale. Brockport will head to Geneseo on Tuesday, February 17th, for a 7:30 p.m. showdown against the Knights, marking their last contest before the Empire 8 Tournament begins.
