BROCKPORT, NY – The Empire 8 Tournament has reached a fever pitch at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium. Following a dominant semifinal performance and surge through the bracket, the No. 5-seeded SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is set to host the Empire 8 Championship game.
The Golden Eagles will welcome the No. 7-seeded Keuka Wolves on Saturday, February 28th, at 2:00 p.m. Riding a nine-game winning streak, the Green and Gold look to defend home court one last time this season to claim the conference crown.
Semifinal Victory
Brockport enters the title game following a 74-57 win over No. 8 St. John Fisher in the semifinals. After a gritty first half that saw the Golden Eagles holding a slim one-point lead, the offense ignited for a 22-9 run in the second half.
The Green and Gold put on a shooting clinic in the final 20 minutes, converting at an elite 61.29% clip from the field.
Jack Clancy and
Camron Dyer led the charge with 13 points apiece, while the defensive unit held the Cardinals to just a single player in double-digits. This balanced attack—featuring five players in double figures—has become the hallmark of Brockport's late-season identity.
Empire 8 All-Conference Awards
On Thursday, February 26th, the Empire 8 Conference officially recognized the talent fueling Brockport's run. The Golden Eagles were well-represented across the 2025-26 All-Conference selections.
Rookie of the Year & Third Team All-Conference: Pharell Aybar
The Washington Heights native solidified his place in the record books, becoming one of the most decorated freshmen in program history with six Rookie of the Week honors. Aybar leads the team in assists (3.2 APG) and ranks top-10 in the E8 in steals.
Second Team All-Conference: Jacob Oka
The senior guard has been the program's heartbeat, leading the roster in points (13.0 PPG), rebounds (6.2 RPG), and steals (2.0 SPG).
Third Team All-Conference: Camron Dyer
Dyer has evolved into the ultimate do-it-all threat, ranking second on the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists while serving as a premier defensive anchor.
Tomorrow's Leaders Team: Cameron Pownall
The freshman forward was honored for his leadership and efficiency, posting a team-high 60.9% field goal percentage and ranking 8th in the conference in blocks.
Scouting The Wolves
The No. 7-seeded Keuka College Wolves travel to Brockport following a gritty postseason run. Keuka earned its spot in the title game by upsetting No. 3 Geneseo in a defensive 55-53 semifinal battle.
While the Golden Eagles hold a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series between the two programs, the Wolves proved to be a formidable opponent earlier this winter. Brockport's lone loss in the series history came in mid-January, a narrow 65-62 defeat on the road. Keuka's offensive efforts are spearheaded by Empire 8 First Team All-Conference selection Lamar Lovelace, who leads the league in scoring with 21.7 points per game.
Saturday's matchup marks a milestone for the Green and Gold. In their second season as members of the Empire 8, the Golden Eagles have successfully navigated the conference gauntlet to reach the championship final on their home floor.
Up Next: With a win, the Golden Eagles will earn a trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, with the first round set for Friday, March 6th.
