Brockport Aims to Extend Win Streak in Pivotal Road Rematches

BROCKPORT, NY – After an adrenaline-pumping overtime victory earlier this week, the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is shifting its focus to a pivotal Empire 8 road trip. The Golden Eagles (9-11, 5-6 E8) are set to visit Rochester this weekend for a pair of high-stakes rematches against Nazareth University and St. John Fisher University.

Overtime Thriller at The Vlog

The Golden Eagles enter the weekend riding the momentum of an 83-77 overtime victory against SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday night. In front of a home crowd, Brockport saw a balanced scoring effort with five players in double figures. Jacob Oka led the way with a near double-double, finishing with 16 points and nine boards, while Ajani Flemming provided a spark from deep, hitting five triples for 15 points.

Omar White stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, five boards, five assists, and four blocks. Freshman standout and reigning E8 Rookie of the Week Pharell Aybar was key in the contest, logging 44 minutes as the primary floor general and finishing with 13 points and seven assists with only a single turnover. After Oka tied the game late in regulation, the Green and Gold dominated the extra period 11-5 to seal the win. Brockport has now won four of their last five Empire 8 matchups, moving into the seventh spot in the conference standings.

Hunting for Road Redemption

Currently on a two-game winning streak and finding their groove as a unit, the Golden Eagles are looking to avenge a pair of losses from earlier this January. They carry a 1-4 all-time record against the Golden Flyers and will look to turn the tide after a 79-62 setback at home back on January 10th. Tip-off against Nazareth is scheduled for Friday, February 6th, at 7:30 p.m.

The Golden Eagles also hold a 6-8 all-time record against St. John Fisher. Brockport fell 77-63 in their previous meeting on January 9th and will be hunting for a crucial road win this time around. Tip-off against the Cardinals is set for Saturday, February 7th, at 4 p.m.

Up Next: Following the pair of road matchups, the Golden Eagles will return to the friendly confines of the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium to host SUNY Poly on Friday, February 13th, at 7:30 p.m.
