BROCKPORT, NY - On Monday, February 9th, the Empire 8 conference named
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week following a historic week of action for the senior from Jersey City, NJ. This week marks Jean-Baptiste's fourth weekly honor of the season.
Across a 2-1 week for the Golden Eagles, SJB finished the week averaging 24.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game, beginning the week with a strong outing against SUNY Geneseo. Following a 20-point, five-rebound effort in a loss against Nazareth on Friday, SJB would rewrite the record books.
Leading the way with a historic effort in Brockport's 91-84 win over St. John Fisher, SJB displayed excellent efficiency on tremendous volume. Jean-Baptiste would set a new program record for points in a single game, breaking Lisa Diaz's 45-year old scoring record with 41 points, adding eight rebounds and five steals in one of the best performances in Brockport Basketball history. She would finish the contest shooting 15-19 from the floor (78.8%), a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line, and 50% from beyond the arc (2-4).
