Ithaca, NY – The SUNY Brockport gymnastics team picked up wins against both Ithaca and Cortland on Sunday. The Golden Eagles were victorious thanks to a season-high final score of 192.175.
Starting the meet with the bars, Brockport's group earned a 47.550.
Emma Brookins and
Lienna Kay tied for first place in the event, each earning a 9.725.
Jamarie Saravia added a 9.500 for a sixth-place finish on the bars. Brockport's scoring for the event was rounded out by a 9.350 from
Celina Satter and a 9.250 by
Charlotte Raymond.
Up next, the Golden Eagles took their turn on the balance beam. Once again they provided the event winner, with
Kiara Hockman placing first with a 9.750. With a 9.600,
Amelia York earned fourth place on the beam.
Alyssa Strain and
Kayla Gleason both scored a 9.450, while
Alexis Schulman posted a 9.425. Brockport totaled 47.675 on the beam, creating a total of 95.225 through two events.
The third rotation put Brockport on the floor exercise, where the squad shined with a 48.700 score in the event. This would give the team a 143.925 after three events.
Three of the top five scores on the floor came from Brockport, with
Jamarie Saravia's 9.775 good for second in the event. Both
Emma Brookins and
Kiara Hockman entered a 3-way tie for third place, hitting a 9.750.
Cali Czarcinski nearly created a 4-way tie with her 9.725, and
Claire Wood was right there as well with a 9.700.
To close out the meet, the Golden Eagles took to the vault.
Emma Langdon and
Kiara Hockman each scored a 9.700 to tie for third place in the event. The squad also received strong scores from
Jamarie Saravia (9.650),
Lienna Kay (9.625), and
Shannon Gibbs (9.575). With a total of 48.250 on the vault, Brockport set a new season-best total of 192.175.
On Saturday, February 14
th, Brockport will travel to Cortland, NY to compete in the Empire State Collegiate Championship.
