Brockport, NY – The men's indoor track and field team finished up the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships with strong performances, with all three Golden Eagles advancing to Day 2.
After the first day of the two-day heptathlon,
Gabriel Giannini currently sits in 11
th place.
Giannini started the day strong, clinching a bronze finish in the 60m sprint at a mark of 7.06 seconds. He moved on to the long jump, placing seventh at 6.73m. In the shot put, Giannini finished in 11
th from a 12.0m throw, and ended the day in 19
th in the high jump at 1.71m.
Giannini also competed in the men's long jump, where he took 13
th with a 6.80m jump into the sand, also earning himself second-team All-American honors.
Dennis Bobbitt had a day in the men's long jump, earning second team All-American, taking ninth from a 6.96m jump.
In the preliminary round of the men's 800m,
Timothy Smith earned a 10th-place finish with an excellent 1:52.99 finishing time.
A Look at Day 2 – Tomorrow,
Gabriel Giannini will continue his heptathlon run, competing in the 60m hurdles at 11 am, pole vault at 11:50 am, and the 1000m at 3 pm.
Dennis Bobbitt is set to compete in the triple jump at 12 pm, with
Timothy Smith set to compete in the finals of the men's 800m at 5 pm.
