ELMA, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's flag football team made history on Thursday night, earning a dominant 61-0 victory over D'Youville at Sahlen's Sports Park in the program's inaugural varsity contest. The win also marked the first collegiate victory for head coach Charrise Everett, setting the tone for a new era of Golden Eagles flag football.
Brockport wasted no time establishing control, showcasing a high-powered offense and a relentless defensive effort from start to finish.
Quarterback Megan Gerber led the charge with an outstanding performance, throwing for five touchdown passes. Her connection with wide receiver Hannah Roxstrom proved especially effective, as Roxstrom hauled in four touchdown receptions to pace the Brockport receiving corps.
The Golden Eagles displayed offensive balance throughout the game. Madison Beardsley contributed with a dynamic all-around effort, recording one rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns. Analysia Sosa added a rushing score, while Caitlynn Haugh and Addy VanDewater each made their mark through the air, with Haugh catching one touchdown and Van Dewater securing two touchdown receptions.
Defensively, Brockport was equally impressive, shutting out D'Youville and consistently disrupting their offensive rhythm. Karina Rozhevenko anchored the defense with eight flag pulls and two quarterback sacks, while Brooklyn Gaurnier added six flag pulls and an interception. Cymbri Jefferson chipped in with three flag pulls to round out a strong team defensive performance.
The historic victory not only marks the program's first win but also sets a strong foundation as SUNY Brockport begins its inaugural season in women's flag football.
