Women's Flag Football Heads to Russell Sage for Empire 8 Opener

Brockport, NY — The Brockport Women's Flag Football team (1-1) travels to Albany, N.Y., on Friday, March 27, to take on Russell Sage in the program's inaugural Empire 8 Conference contest.

Last Week:
The Golden Eagles opened their season by splitting a pair of road games, earning a dominant 61-0 victory over D'Youville before falling to Roberts Wesleyan, 33-13, last Saturday.

Megan Gerber displayed her versatility throughout the opening week, throwing five touchdown passes in the season-opening win over D'Youville. In challenging weather conditions against Roberts Wesleyan, Gerber led Brockport with 56 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, while adding 51 passing yards and a 15-yard reception.

Addy VanDewater emerged as a key target in the second contest, leading the team with three receptions for 20 yards. She also made a strong impact in the win over D'Youville, hauling in two touchdown receptions.

Madison Beardsley contributed across multiple positions, totaling two rushing touchdowns and two passing scores while splitting time at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Beardsley recorded 37 passing yards, 18 rushing yards with a touchdown, and a seven-yard reception.

Hannah Roxstrom proved to be a reliable target, finishing with four touchdown receptions across the opening week.

Defensively, Karina Rozhevenko has anchored the unit, compiling 23 flag pulls, three quarterback sacks, and four tackles for loss through two games. She recorded two sacks in the season opener and followed up with a team-high 14 tackles, four tackles for loss, and a sack against Roberts Wesleyan. Brooklyn Gaurnier has also made her presence felt, totaling 11 tackles and an interception.
