Brockport, N.Y. — The Brockport Women's Flag Football team will usher in a new era on Tuesday evening, hosting SUNY Geneseo Knights in the program's inaugural home opener at Bob Boozer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 31.
After opening the season with a 2-1 record on the road, Brockport returns home looking to build momentum in front of its home crowd.
Inaugural Empire 8 Victory
The Golden Eagles began Empire 8 Conference play in Albany with an impressive 26-12 victory over Russell Sage Gators on Friday, March 27. A dominant second-half shutout, combined with several standout offensive performances, secured Brockport's first conference win in program history.
Quarterback Megan Gerber led the offensive effort, totaling 120 passing yards and 110 rushing yards while accounting for all four touchdowns. Madison Beardsley also made a significant impact under center, recording more than 100 all-purpose yards. She completed 7-of-15 passes for 50 yards and added 51 rushing yards on 10 attempts.
Caitlynn Haugh emerged as a key receiving target, hauling in a touchdown and finishing with a team-high four receptions for 51 yards.
Defensively, Brooklyn Gaurnier led the way with eight solo flag pulls and a pass breakup. Karina Rozhevenko was a force in the backfield, totaling five solo pulls, including three tackles for loss, along with a pass breakup.
Top Performers
Through three games, several Golden Eagles have established themselves as key contributors on both sides of the ball.
Gerber has totaled 10 touchdowns (seven passing, three rushing), showcasing her versatility as a playmaker while splitting time between quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. Following her performance against Russell Sage, she was named Empire 8 Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Rozhevenko has anchored the defense, compiling 28 flag pulls, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, and a pass breakup across three contests.
Hannah Roxstrom has emerged as a premier receiving option, recording five touchdown receptions in her first three games.
Gaurnier has also excelled at the middle linebacker position, tallying 19 flag pulls, an interception, and a pass breakup.
Scouting Geneseo
Geneseo enters Tuesday's matchup with a 3-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Empire 8 play. The Knights are coming off a 20-13 conference loss to Hartwick Hawks last Saturday.
Tuesday's contest will mark the first-ever women's flag football meeting between the two conference rivals.
