Golden Eagles Head to Rhode Island Looking for 6th Straight Regional Title

Brockport, NY- The defending National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Region champion Brockport Golden Eagles are heading to Rhode Island College (RIC) for the 2026 Regional Championships on Saturday, March 7th, at 1pm.
 
2026 NCGA East Regionals: This weekend, Brockport, Ithaca, Springfield, Cortland, Ursinus, and Utica all head to the Murray Center on the campus of RIC to compete for the regional crown. Brockport has won the NCGA East Regional title since the 2018/2019 season (with no championships in 2019/2020 & 2020/2021). Meet and ticket information:
Adult: $10.00
Senior Citizen (65 & Older), Child (Age 4-17) & College Student with ID: $5.00
Children 3 & under: FREE
 
Spectators will be able to park in nearby Lots J and I for the competition on Saturday.
Tickets will be available to purchase in person at the meet on Saturday, March 7. Doors to The Murray Center will open at 11:00am. Spectator access to the seating area will not be available prior to 11:00 a.m.
 
This Season: The Golden Eagles have gone undefeated against NCGA competition this year, with their losses being at Rutgers (against Temple and Rutgers), Eastern Michigan (against Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan), and at Cortland for the Empire State Championships (Finished third, behind Long Island and Cornell, however, beat Cortland, Ithaca, and Utica). The Golden Eagles currently rank 4th nationally and 1st in the east in the NCGA based on Team Season Average Score.
 
Most recently, Brockport hosted Greensville University, scoring a season high 192.400 and winning the meet by 192.400-187.475. Leading the way for Brockport was junior Kiara Hockman and sophomore Kayla Gleason, who combined for three first-place finishes, a second-place finish, and a third-place finish. Overall, the Golden Eagles had the top four finishers on beam and top five finishers on the floor. Gleason was named the NCGA specialist of the week following her 1st place finish on floor (9.850) and 2nd place finish on beam (9.750).
 
Overall, Brockport ranks 5th on vault, 6th on bars, 4th on beam and 1st on floor nationally (2nd, 2nd, 1st and 1st in the region) per SAS. Individually, Hockman leads the way for Brockport on vault (2nd nationally), beam (first nationally), and floor (T-2nd nationally). On bars, sophomore Emma Brookins is Brockport's highest-ranked gymnast. Junior Lienna Kay is Brockport's sole All-Around competitor, with a SAS of 37.4188.
 
Looking at the Opponents:
 
Cortland: The Red Dragons are sitting right behind Brockport in the rankings at 5th nationally and second in the region with an SAS of 191.7813. Brockport and Cortland have seen each other twice during the season, most recently at the Empire State Collegiate Championships, where the two teams were separated by 0.05 points. The Red Dragons have four different gymnasts leading their charge on each of the four events, as sophomore Tayah Graham (T-7th nationally, 4th in the region) leads their vault, junior Autumn Atkins is their top gymnast on bars, junior Samantha Meadows leads on beam, and senior Tessa Sutton (T-7th nationally, T-6th in the region) is their top floor competitor. The Red Dragons top score for the year is 192.800.
 
Ithaca: The Bombers are currently sitting at 8th nationally and 3rd in the east with a season SAS of  190.0938. Brockport and Ithaca have faced each other three times this season, most recently during the Empire State Collegiate Championships, where the teams were separated by 2.5 points (192.000-189.500). Ithaca is led by five separate gymnasts, as senior Grace Murray (6th nationally, 3rd in the region) leads on vault, junior Lauren Babineaux leads on bars, senior Emily Kobusky (8th nationally, 2nd regionally) is their top beam worker, and Murray is top in the nation on floor. Graduate Student Jillian Freyman is also ranked second nationally on the floor. The Bombers top score for the year is 191.350.
 
Rhode Island College: The host Anchorwomen are currently sitting 10th nationally and 5th in the east with an SAS of 189.7875. Brockport and RIC have not seen each other this season; their last meeting was during the 2025 NCGA National Championships, where RIC took 5th place, and Brockport took 6th place. Junior Payton Greene leads RIC on vault, senior Abigail Bunch leads on bars and beam, and senior Liz Shrewsbury leads on floor. The Anchorwomen also have two All-Arounders in Greene (37.8438 SAS)  and sophomore Aaliyah Krause (37.7875 SAS). RIC's top score this year is a 190.475.
 
Springfield: Springfield sits 15th nationally and 7th in the east with an SAS of 187.4938. Brockport and Springfield didn't see each other this season. Their last meeting was at the 2025 NCGA Eastern Regionals, where Brockport defeated them by 5.2 points (192.525-187.325). The Pride have four different leaders, with senior Stacey Taylor leading on vault, junior Emma Skowronek leads on bars, freshman Brooke Ginter is Springfield's top beam gymnast, and junior Kora Donely is their top floor worker. Springfield's best score this year is a 189.875.
 
Ursinus: The Bears are ranked 9th nationally and 4th in the east with an SAS of 189.9375. Brockport and Ursinus saw each other once this year, with Brockport taking a 188.250-187.150 victory. Junior Erin Roe is the lone all-arounder for the Bears (38.3500 SAS), and also leads the team on vault (3rd nationally, 2nd in the east) and bars. On the beam and floor, junior Lucy Warburton leads Ursinus. The top score by the Bears this year is a 191.950.
 
Utica: The Pioneers are currently ranked 14th nationally and 6th in the region. Brockport and Utica saw each other twice this year, with the most recent being in Brockport on senior day, where the Golden Eagles won 191.275-185.425. Freshman Alisya Dorman leads Utica on vault and beam, while senior Camille Lindley leads the Pioneers on bars, and junior Grace Marra leads on floor. Marra (37.7250 SAS) and Dorman (37.5875 SAS) are the two all-arounders for the Pioneers. Notably, the third-year program has had two individual qualifiers make nationals in each of its first two years. Utica's top score this year is 188.500.
 
Up Next: The top two teams from Saturday's meet will automatically qualify for the NCGA National Championships hosted by Cortland on Friday, March 20th. Those two teams will join the top two teams from the western regional championships, and then be joined by the top two non-automatic qualifying teams (based on SAS). Non-qualifying teams can still have individual qualifiers for the national championship.
