Brockport, NY – The Brockport flag football team (6-2, 5-1 E8) hits the road this weekend for a pair of critical Empire 8 matchups, beginning at SUNY Geneseo (10-4, 5-1 E8) on Friday, April 16, before closing out the regular season against Hartwick (4-4, 3-3 E8) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
With victories in both contests, the Golden Eagles would secure the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship and home-field advantage throughout the conference tournament.
Staying Hot
Brockport enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak following a 38-12 victory over Elmira at Bob Boozer Field last Tuesday.
Madison Beardsley delivered a dynamic, all-around performance at quarterback, completing 13 passes for 218 yards and five touchdowns while also leading the team on the ground. The freshman added 94 rushing yards on 15 carries, surpassing 300 total yards of offense.
Beardsley's top targets, Trelani Harper (67 yards, 2 TD) and Addy VanDewater (53 yards, 3 TD), each recorded over 50 receiving yards and multiple touchdowns. VanDewater continues her standout season, totaling 10 touchdown receptions in six conference games.
Defensively, Ariana Kennedy led the effort with 10 flag pulls, while Lauren Cundra (2 TFL) and Ava Leyh recorded seven apiece. Ava Seelbach made a significant impact with two interceptions, four flag pulls, and two tackles for loss.
Touchdown Streak
Addy VanDewater has emerged as one of Brockport's most dangerous offensive weapons, recording a touchdown in four consecutive games. The freshman has totaled 22 receptions for 393 yards and 10 touchdowns in conference play.
Instant Impact
Analysia Sosa has made a strong impact over the past three games, becoming a key contributor on defense. Across three contests last week, Sosa recorded 15 flag pulls, seven tackles for loss, and two sacks, consistently disrupting opposing offenses.
Scouting Geneseo
SUNY Geneseo enters Friday's matchup following a 26-6 loss at Villa Maria, which snapped a seven-game winning streak. Brockport will look to avenge a 21-13 loss to the Knights on April 1.
Scouting Hartwick
Hartwick is coming off a 30-8 win over Russell Sage and currently sits third in the Empire 8 standings. The Golden Eagles defeated the Hawks 38-19 at home last Friday.
