BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The Brockport women's flag football team returns to Bob Boozer Field this weekend for a pivotal pair of Empire 8 contests. Currently second in the conference standings, the Golden Eagles (3-2, 2-1 E8) will host Hartwick College on Friday, April 10 at 4 p.m., before welcoming Russell Sage College for a rematch on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m.
Previous Action
Brockport enters the weekend following a commanding 31-6 victory over Elmira on April 3. Freshman quarterback Madison Beardsley delivered her most efficient performance of the season, completing 22-of-34 passes for 203 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. She also made a significant impact on the ground, rushing for 91 yards on 18 carries.
Addy VanDewater emerged as Beardsley's primary deep threat, recording five receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by a 57-yard scoring reception on the opening drive. Defensively, Brockport held Elmira scoreless for three quarters. Karina Rozhevenko anchored the effort with six sacks and six tackles for loss, while Jaianna Byrd, Ava Seelbach, and Cymbri Jefferson combined for 21 flag pulls.
Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week
Following her standout performance, Karina Rozhevenko earned Empire 8 Women's Flag Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, April 6. The recognition marks the first weekly defensive award in program history.
Rozhevenko totaled 19 flag pulls, eight tackles for loss, and six sacks across two games last week. Her consistent pressure in the backfield has established her as a cornerstone of Brockport's defense, where she currently leads the team in total tackles.
Scouting the Hawks
Friday's contest will mark the first meeting between Brockport and Hartwick in program history. The Hawks (3-2, 2-1 E8) enter the matchup tied with the Golden Eagles in the conference standings following a 33-18 victory over D'Youville.
Hartwick's offense is anchored by its rushing attack, led by Audra Doll, who is averaging 135 rushing yards per game and has totaled 675 yards this season. Through the air, Bailey McCoy (212 yards) and Ellie Kalbach (148 yards) serve as key receiving options. Defensively, Ziyon Harrison leads the team with 36 tackles and has added an interception and a pass breakup.
Scouting the Gators
Brockport will close out the weekend with a rematch against Russell Sage. The Golden Eagles secured a 26-12 road victory in the first meeting earlier this season. The Gators (1-3, 1-3 E8) enter Saturday's contest looking to snap a two-game losing streak after falling to SUNY Geneseo (27-0) and Elmira (25-13).
Russell Sage features a pass-oriented offense led by junior quarterback Bianca Ricciuto, who averages 195 passing yards per game and has thrown eight touchdowns. Hailey Blake (264 yards, 4 touchdowns) and Aniyah Kelley (184 yards, 3 touchdowns) are the primary receiving targets. Blake leads the team with 66 receiving yards per game, presenting a key challenge for the Brockport secondary.
