BROCKPORT, NY — The SUNY Brockport field hockey team hits the road on Tuesday, September 15th, for a 4 p.m. matchup against Oswego State. Following the midweek tilt, the Green and Gold will return home to Dr. Linda Arena & Class of '69 Field to host SUNY Oneonta for the Alumni Appreciation Game on Friday, September 18th, at 5 p.m.
Last Outing: Brockport improved to 3-1 on the season after a dominant 7-3 Senior Day victory over Lycoming College. The Golden Eagles' attack clicked early, pouring in four first-period goals behind tallies from
Emily Nestor,
Clare Devine,
Makenna Hart, and
Elise Brady.
Penelope Schalck (2G) and Brady (2G) led the offensive explosion with multi-goal efforts, while
Laela Osinski recorded a team-high two assists. Netminder
Lauren Mastromarco earned the win in the cage with four saves over 32 minutes, supported by
Julia Nieboer's eight relief saves and a fourth-quarter defensive save from
Carleigh Colvin. Brockport generated 14 shots on goal and five penalty corners in the victory.
Season Stat Leaders: Through four games, Brockport's offense features balanced production led by
Emily Nestor (2G, 2A) and
Penelope Schalck (4G), who share the team high with six points apiece.
Elise Brady sits right behind with five points (2G, 1A) while placing 11 of her 13 shots on cage (.846 SOG%).
Terralyn McLaughlin (1G, 2A) and
Laela Osinski (4A) anchor the midfield with four points each. Defensive anchor
Carleigh Colvin leads the squad with two goal-line defensive saves. In goal,
Lauren Mastromarco holds a 3-0 record with a 0.91 goals-against average and 20 saves (.870 save percentage).
Scouting Oswego: The Lakers enter Tuesday's tilt at 3-1 overall. Oswego State opened the year with three consecutive victories, including two shutouts, before dropping a 6-1 road contest to Wilkes in its last outing. Brockport holds a 14-11 advantage in the all-time series. In the most recent matchup between the programs, the Lakers edged out a 1-0 victory in Brockport, snapping a streak of three consecutive 1-0 victories by the Green and Gold.
Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons sit at 1-2 on the season. Oneonta opened the campaign with a 3-0 clean sheet over Utica before dropping back-to-back decisions against St. John Fisher (2-0) and Hartwick (3-2). The Golden Eagles have taken the last two meetings against the Red Dragons, claiming a 3-1 victory in 2023 and a 4-3 double-overtime thriller in 2024.
