Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) of the women’s track and field team has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after setting two school records at the Brockport Alumni Run on Saturday.
Competing at the first-ever meet in the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC), Jones topped her own mark in the shot put event with a distance of 12.89-meters (42' 3 ½”). Jones’ previous personal best was also a school record at 12.69-meters set last season. The new school record came on Jones’ third attempt of the day.
Jones also set a school record in the weight throw event with a distance of 16.32 meters (53' 6 ½”), also coming on her third attempt. The senior finished first in each event.
Brockport’s next meet will be the Golden Eagle Invitational held at the SERC on Jan. 18.
