Senior Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) captured his first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Track and Field Pole Vault Championship over the weekend and has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week.

Ferrara, the 2013 indoor pole vault national champion became the first Brockport outdoor champion since 2002. The senior cleared a height of 4.85 meters (15’ 11”), finishing ahead of teammate Cameron Shaughnessy (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) who cleared a height of 4.65 meters (15’ 3”).

Ferrara also captured the 2013 SUNYAC indoor pole vault title as well, making him the first athlete to take both the indoor and outdoor conference championships in the same year since 2011. Ferrara's height currently ranks eighth of all Division III jumpers.

Ferrara and the Golden Eagles will compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships May 10-12 at Princeton University.
