Freshman Faith Welch (Albany, NY/ Catholic Central) has been chosen as The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on December 1.
Welch helped the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team open up the season with a 3-0 start. She had an outstanding game against Cazenovia, helping Brockport weather an end of the game push from the Wildcats and capture an 86-80 victory.
Against Cazenovia, Welch scored a career-high 21 points. She was 4-for-8 from the floor, 3-for-3 from long range and sunk 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Welch also added six rebound, three assists and two steals.
For her efforts, Welch was named to the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week for the week ending on November 29.
So far this season, the point guard has averaged 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals.
The Golden Eagles return to action at 6 pm on Tuesday evening at Geneseo for a game against Rochester in the opening round of the annual Wendy’s Classic Tournament
