Senior Cayli Carmona (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after leading the women’s soccer team to a pair of victories and the Cyclone Classic Championship title. Carmona is the award winner for the week ending September 1 as she scored two goals and added an assist in the victories over Drew and Centenary.

Brockport was locked in a 1-1 tie with Drew University that went into overtime. Carmona scored the season opening game winner that sent Brockport to the title game against tournament host Centenary.

In the championship game against Centenary, Carmona assisted on the first goal to help the Golden Eagles take the early advantage that they wouldn’t relinquish. She added to Brockport’s lead when she was awarded a direct kick from just outside the 18 yard box. She drilled a low shot into the lower corner of the net.

Brockport returns to action Thursday for a 4 pm game at St. John Fisher College. This game marks the start of the Golden Challenge for a Pink Cure Weekend.
