Senior outfielder Brendan Swayne (Seaford, NY/Plainedge) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 30. Swayne helped lead the Brockport Baseball team to a perfect 2-0 record on the week, including its first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory of the season Sunday as the Golden Eagles defeated Oneonta 15-3.

Swayne was a major contributor in the lopsided victory over the Red Dragons Sunday night with the game being played at Onondaga Community College. He tied for the team lead with three hits in the contest, while also accumulating three runs scored, a run batted in, a walk and two stolen bases on two tries.

In a much tighter matchup with the University of Rochester on Tuesday night, Swayne and the Golden Eagles won 3-0 while only amassing five hits during the contest. Timely and situational hitting led the Green and Gold to the win in the pitcher’s duel. Swayne finished the game 0-2, but reached base twice on a hit by pitch and base on balls. He was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning putting runners on first and third before a sacrifice fly gave Brockport a three run cushion.

The Golden Eagles continue their SUNYAC action Monday against Oneonta with a double header scheduled at Houghton College before a single game against RIT Tuesday and a three game series against Cortland Friday and Saturday.
