When The College at Brockport’s softball team needed a clutch hit during its season-opening trip to Florida, junior Liz Hochman (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) delivered in a big way to spark Brockport’s come-from-behind win against St. Mary’s College of Indiana. Hochman is Brockport’s Female Athlete of the Week.

 

Hochman came up in the fifth inning against St. Mary’s with Brockport trailing 2-1, and ripped a two-run home run that gave the Golden Eagles a 3-2 lead. Hochman’s first collegiate home run went into the wind and sailed over the fence, plating sophomore Danielle Sage (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama). Senior Stephanie Geer (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) made the lead stand in Game 1.

 

In the second game of the day, Hochman drove in two runs as Brockport rolled the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 8-0. Hochman went 4-for-7 (.571 batting average) with four RBI and three runs scored as the Golden Eagles started the season 4-0.

 

Brockport’s attack has recorded at least 11 hits in three of the first four games.
