Senior Kelly Nowak (Orchard Park, NY/Sacred Heart) proved that she can be a reliable outside hitter for the Brockport women’s volleyball team this weekend. Nowak garnered All-Tournament team honors at the New York University Invitational Tournament, making her Brockport’s Female Athlete of the Week.

Nowak got off to a hot start, registering 19 kills, three aces and six digs in a three-set win over Kean University. The Golden Eagles then traveled to NYU, finishing fourth in the tournament with a 2-2 record.

Nowak had 23 combined kills in back-to-back wins over Bridgewater State and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Against Montclair State University, Nowak was locked in, recording 27 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 loss. In the last match of the weekend, Nowak tacked on 12 more kills against the Blue Knights of Geneseo. Brockport is 3-2 on the year  thus far, largely in part to Nowak’s contributions.
