The College at Brockport's women's basketball team got a career-high six points from freshman
Carissa Cromwell (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady), but the Golden Eagles fell to Oneonta 77-38 Friday night inside the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Brockport.
The Golden Eagles held a slim 2-0 lead early on when sophomore
Sarah Alwardt (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) buried a mid-range jumper early on, but slow shooting stalled Brockport's attack, and Oneonta (12-1 overall, 6-0 State University of New York Athletic Conference) led 32-16 at halftime.
Cromwell came off the bench and hit back-to-back layups and finished with six points, the first points of her Brockport career. She tied for the scoring lead for Brockport (2-9 overall, 0-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference) along with junior
Rachel Csakany (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) and sophomore
Ellen Story (Catskill, NY/Catskill).
Ten of the 12 women who played for Brockport scored against Oneonta. Brockport was outrebounded 43-25 and shot 29.4 percent from the field (15 of 51) compared to Oneonta's 52.5 percent shooting (31 of 59).
The Golden Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. tipoff against SUNYAC rival New Paltz.
