Desiree Fauvelle (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley) scored 11 points for The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team as an early lead slipped away on the road, resulting in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) 71-59 loss to the Oneonta Red Dragons Saturday at Dewar Arena in Oneonta.
The Golden Eagles (6-16 Overall/4-11 SUNYAC) were also led by junior
Rachel Csakany (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady), who scored nine points and gathered eight rebounds in the effort.
Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles would play in SUNYAC playoffs if the season ended Saturday. Brockport still holds onto the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference. Brockport remains one game ahead of Plattsburgh, as the Cardinals fell to Cortland 91-80 on Saturday.
Brockport held the lead for the first nine minutes of the contest before Oneonta (17-6, 11-5) went on an 18-5 run to take the lead for good. Junior guard
Liz Unger (Hamilton, NY/Hamilton) hit two late three-point shots to close the Red Dragons lead to 44-30 as the teams entered the halftime intermission.
Unger finished with eight points, shooting 2-4 from three-point range. The scoring for the Golden Eagles was spread evenly, with sophomore

In the second half, Oneonta maintained a double-digit lead until Brockport used a late 12-3 run to cut the lead to nine. Oneonta capitalized on its free-throw opportunities in the last 1:45 of the game to close the game, going 6-for-8 from the charity stripe.
Brockport's late second-half run resulted from a solid day of rebounding. Brockport out-rebounded Oneonta 42-35, collecting 13 rebounds on the offensive end.
Brockport will play their final home game of the season Tuesday at 6 pm against Buffalo State for senior night at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium. Seniors
Kristin Abbott (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and
Bobbi Jean Bryden (New Berlin, NY/Morris) will be honored prior to the start of the game Tuesday night.
