Box Score

Freshman guard Phoebe Byrnes (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) poured in a game and career-high 27 points for The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team, but the Golden Eagles dropped a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) road game at Oswego 83-64.

Byrnes, who had shot just 15 free throw attempts in 13 games this season, sank all 10 of her attempts from the line on Tuesday night. Byrnes connected on seven of 15 field goal attempts, including three from three-point range. Byrnes was one of three players to reach double figures for Brockport as Cecilia Sigrist (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) and Kelly Grinnell (Auburn, NY/Auburn) each scored 10 points.

The Lakers jumped out early on Brockport, building a quick double-digit lead in the first half. Byrnes scored 13 of the team's first 18 points in the half, sinking two shots from behind the arc. Oswego led 33-18 at the 6:46 mark before Brockport staggered back. Over the next five minutes, Byrnes, Sigrist, and Grinnell combined to go on an 11-2 run to make the score 35-29 with Oswego holding onto the lead. The Lakers went into halftime with a 39-32 advantage.

Oswego scored the first nine points of the second half before Byrnes opened up the Brockport scoring with a trifecta with 15:12 to go in the game, but Oswego led by double-digits the remainder of the contest as Brockport could not catch up.

The 64 points are the most Brockport has scored in a loss all season, and their highest total in the last seven games. Byrnes, who has now scored in double-figures in four of her last six games, also contributed career-highs with nine rebounds and five assists while giving up only two turnovers. Brockport limited Oswego to just 18.2 percent from three-point range on the night.
