Gymnastics Team Falls to Division I Foes

Taylor Weirzba and Kelcie Morris each score 9.775 on the floor

Kelcie Morris scored a 9.775 on the floor to lead Brockport against Division I Penn and New Hampshire
Senior Taylor Wierzba (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) and junior Kelcie Morris (Hagerstown, MD/Smithsburg) each recorded scores of 9.775 on the floor exercise to lead The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to a final team score of 186.425 and a third place finish in a quad meet at the University of Pennsylvania Friday night in Philadelphia. The University of New Hampshire won the meet with a score of 195.250 followed by Penn at 192.975 and Division III Wilson College finished fourth with a team score of 148.125.
 
Wierzba and Morris led the team on the floor finishing in a tie for eighth place overall in the event. Sophomore Jessica Rockafellow (Grand Blanc, MI/Grand Blanc) was 13th with a 9.625 on her floor routine.
 
Senior Kileigh Chapman (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) was 11th on the balance beam with a team-best 9.550 followed by freshman Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) with a 9.250 to finish 12th.
 
A trio of Golden Eagles finished together in the standings on the uneven bars as sophomore Heidi Beckerich (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) scored 9.275, sophomore Kathryn Coghlan (Wappingers Falls, NY/John Jay-East Fishkill) scored 9.250 and freshman Natalie Manga (Fresh Meadows, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) added a 9.175 to finish 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.
 
Freshman Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) had the best finish of the night for Brockport with her 5th place finish on the vault with a score of 9.625. Carney was tied for 9th with a 9.550, sophomore Gabrielle Pettito (Selden, NY/Newfield) was tied for 12th at 9.50 and junior Stephanie Pastorelli (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) was 15th with a 9.325.
