Baseball Remains Unbeaten With Strong Pitching

Three pitchers combine for 2-1 victory

Senior Mark Ciccotti (Breesport, NY/Horseheads) threw six solid innings, junior Travis Renwick (Middletown, NY/Chapel Field Christian) came on for two innings and senior James Williamson (Mexico, NY/Mexico) earned the save as The College at Brockport Baseball team posted a 2-1 victory over Mount Saint Mary College Sunday afternoon at The Rock Sports Park in Chester, NY.
 
The Golden Eagles (3-0) remained unbeaten despite being held without a run in eight of the nine innings. Brockport scored twice in the fourth inning and Mount Saint Mary (0-1) scored its only run in the fifth.
 
Ciccotti scattered seven hits over his six innings of work allowing just the one run with two walks and five strikeouts. Renwick threw two innings with one hit allowed and Williamson struck out two batters in the ninth for the save.
 
In the fourth, sophomore Kyle Tracy (Plainview, NY/Bethpage) connected on a one-out single and sophomore Pete Wilson (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) followed with a triple to score Tracy and give Brockport a 1-0 lead. Senior Mike DeGregory (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) walked and stole second before junior Stephen Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) reached on an infield error that scored Wilson from third to make it a 2-0 game.
 
Mount Saint Mary scored in the fifth after a leadoff walk, sacrifice bunt and a pair of singles.
 
Tracy finished 2-for-4 as Brockport was limited to just four hits in the game.
 
Brockport returns to action Friday with a three-game trip to New Jersey. The Golden Eagles will face Rutgers-Camden at 3 pm Friday, Kean University at 1 pm Saturday and Ramapo College at 1 pm Sunday.
