BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The SUNY Brockport baseball program has been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) as a recipient of the 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.
The award recognizes high school and collegiate baseball programs whose student-athletes achieved a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year. More than 800 programs nationwide earned the distinction this year, including nearly 500 collegiate programs, highlighting a nationwide commitment to academic excellence.
To qualify for the award, programs were required to:
- Be a high school or collegiate baseball program.
- Have a head coach who is a current member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
- Achieve a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2025-26 academic year.
The recognition reflects the continued commitment of Brockport Baseball to excellence both on the field and in the classroom, underscoring the dedication of the program's student-athletes to achieving success in all aspects of the collegiate experience.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for amateur baseball coaches. In addition to the Team Academic Excellence Award, the ABCA annually recognizes outstanding achievements through its prestigious awards program, which includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams, All-Region honors, Regional and National Coaches of the Year, the ABCA Hall of Fame, and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
On the field, the Golden Eagles finished the 2026 season with a 22-21 overall record and a dominant 17-5 mark in Empire 8 contests in the squad's first season under head coach Nick Pontari.
The 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award adds to the proud tradition of academic and athletic achievement at Brockport, recognizing the Golden Eagles' dedication to maintaining championship standards both in competition and in the classroom.
