Norton and Coon Named to ABCA Division III All-Region Team

BROCKPORT, NY – The American Baseball Coaches Association announced its selections for the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year on Tuesday, May 26, with two members of the Brockport baseball program earning prestigious regional recognition. Graduate student Michael Norton garnered First Team All-Region honors as a designated hitter, while senior Matthew Coon earned Third Team All-Region recognition at first base.

First Team Designated Hitter: Michael Norton

Michael Norton capped off an outstanding graduate season with the Golden Eagles by earning ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Region honors following an impressive campaign that also included Empire 8 All-Conference and All-Tournament accolades.

A key contributor in the middle of Brockport's lineup, Norton led the team with 27 extra-base hits while producing an exceptional .340/.430/.628 slash line across 41 starts. The Dunkirk, NY native launched eight home runs and established himself as one of the Golden Eagles' most consistent offensive threats throughout the season.

Norton paced Brockport with 16 multi-hit performances and recorded multiple RBIs in 12 contests. His impact extended across every facet of the offense, finishing the year with 40 RBIs and 44 runs scored. A dynamic presence on the basepaths as well, Norton successfully stole 13 bases in 14 attempts.

Third Team First Base: Matthew Coon

Matthew Coon concluded a breakout senior campaign with ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-Region honors after previously earning Empire 8 All-Conference and All-Tournament recognition earlier this month.

Coon led Brockport's regular starters with a .359 batting average and emerged as one of the nation's top power hitters during the 2026 season. Appearing in 42 games, he paced the Golden Eagles with 12 home runs and 106 total bases, resulting in a team-best .693 slugging percentage.

The senior first baseman totaled 55 hits, 48 RBIs, and 47 runs scored while serving as a cornerstone of Brockport's offense. Defensively, Coon was nearly flawless, posting a .997 fielding percentage with just one error in 308 total chances.

Brockport finished the 2026 season with a 22-21 overall record and a 17-5 mark in conference play.
