James Williamson strikes out eight batters to beat Dickinson
Box Score

Senior James Williamson (Mexico, NY/Mexico) was inserted as a starter for the first time since his freshman season and responded by tossing 5 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball leading The College at Brockport Baseball team to a 10-1 victory over Dickinson (PA) College Monday afternoon at the Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Florida.

Williamson struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit over six complete innings and the combination of Rob Stankiewicz (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), John Lowe (Kingston, NY/Kingston) and Mark Driesel (Kent, NY/Kendall) closed out the game.

The Golden Eagles (6-4) scored twice in the third inning, two more in the fifth and three times in the sixth inning before adding single runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

In the third, Jake Coleman (Hilton, NY/Hilton) led off the inning with a single and Kyle Tracy (Plainview, NY/Bethpage) followed with a double down the right field line pushing Coleman to third. Corey Booth (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) and Mike Weakley (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) each grounded out but knocked in a run each to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead.

In the fifth, Colman led off the inning with another hit and advanced around to third base after an attempted pick-off throw went past first base and all the way into right field. Booth singled to leftfield to score Coleman and then stole second to move into scoring position. Weakley followed with a walk and both runners advanced a base with a double steal with Booth scoring on a throwing error on the play and Brockport led 4-0.

After the second double play of the day ended the bottom of the fifth inning for Dickinson, Brockport tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth. Freshman Shawn Peake (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) started the inning with a walk, Stephen Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) and sophomore Mike Gianni (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) each singled to load the bases. Coleman grounded a ball to the pitcher and Peake was forced out at the plate but a throw by the catcher to first base in an attempt for the double play was late and Boronczyk took advantage and scored from third on the throw.

With runners on the corners, Coleman stole second and drew a throw allowing Gianni to scamper home from third.  After Booth and Weakley both walked to load the bases, Nick Bunce (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) singled to left field scoring Coleman but Booth was thrown out at the plate to end the inning with Brockport leading 7-0.

In the seventh inning Pete Wilson (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) scored on a passed ball. In the eighth, Kevin Gerken (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili) walked and came around to score after the bases were loaded and another walk forced Gerken home. And in the ninth, Weakley doubled to score Mike DeGregory (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) from third to end the scoring.

Boronczyk was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate while Coleman and Tracy contributed two hits each as 11 different Golden Eagles recorded hits on the day. Coleman scored three runs and Peak was 1-for-1 with four walks reaching base in each of his five plate appearances.
