Corey Booth (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) paced the offense with two hits, two runs scored, and two runs batted in as The College at Brockport Baseball team defeated the RIT Tigers 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon at the Clark V. Whited Complex. The Golden Eagles improved their record to 21-11 overall and have won eight of their last 10.
Booth, who had a four-RBI performance yesterday in game two against Fredonia State, leads Brockport with 31 RBI this year. Booth was just one of five Golden Eagles to have two hits on the day. Senior
Aaron Tilley (Troy, NY/Troy) pitched seven strong innings, scattering eight hits and allowing just two earned runs. Tilley got the win to improve to 5-3.
Pete Wilson (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) started the Brockport offense with a leadoff single in the first. After advancing on a sacrifice bunt, Booth came to bat and drove in Wilson with a single to left field. Booth later scored on a single by
Mike Weakley (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) to give Brockport an early 2-0 lead.
Each team scored a run in their respective half of the third inning.
Jake Coleman (Hilton, NY/Hilton) manufactured a run with heads up base-running. After drawing a two out walk, Coleman stole second, and then stole third but the pitch got by the RIT catcher. Without slowing down, Coleman rounded third and slid into home to narrowly beat the throw.
Weakley drove in his second run of the game in the bottom of the fifth to score Booth to make the score 4-1. The Brockport offense gave Tilley some more breathing room with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Stephen Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) drove the first pitch of the inning off the left center wall.
Mike Gianni (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) pinch ran for Boronczyk and scored on a single by Wilson. Booth got his second RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly to score
Mike DeGregory (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville).
Nick Bunce (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) brought in the final run with a double to deep left field to score

Tilley ran into some trouble in the top of the seventh, but got out of the inning allowing just two runs.
Mark Ciccotti (Breesport, NY/Horseheads) provided two innings of relief work not allowing a hit and striking out two batters.
Brockport continues its' stretch of non-conference games to host Medaille on April 22 for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
