SUNYAC Bracket SUNYAC Championship Quick Facts
The College at Brockport Men's Baseball team locked up the No. 2 seed in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament and will head to Cortland this weekend for the playoffs. The Golden Eagles were also the two seed at last year's SUNYAC Tournament.
Brockport, which posted a 10-8 record in the SUNYAC regular season, will take on the No. 3 seed Oneonta Red Dragons on Friday, May 4 at 3:30 pm. The second round of the tournament will take place on Saturday and the championship game is set for 12:00 pm on Sunday. Top-seeded Cortland will take on the fourth-seed Plattsburgh Cardinals on Friday in game one of the tournament at 12:00 pm.
Brockport took one of three games from Oneonta this past weekend, a 2-1 victory as junior
James Bardenett (Syracuse, NY/Henninger), this week's SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week, tossed eight innings and allowed just one earned run to pick up his ninth win of the year. The nine wins tied a single season school record. Against Cortland, currently ranked at No. 7 in the latest NCAA Division III polls with a 31-7-1 record and 16-2 mark in the SUNYAC, Brockport also went 1-2 this year. Cortland's only other SUNYAC loss came at the hands of Plattsburgh. The Golden Eagles were most successful against Plattsburgh in the regular season, taking two games of the three game set, winning by scores of 9-2 and 10-4.
The Golden Eagles have advanced to the SUNYAC Championship game every year since head coach
Justin Beach took over the team in 2008, winning the title in 2010. Brockport entered the tournament last season as the No. 2 seed and fell to Cortland in the championship. Cortland has won every SUNYAC Championship since 1997 except for two, when Brockport won the title in 2004 and 2010. The Golden Eagles have advanced to two consecutive NCAA Tournaments.
