Junior Kyle Tracy (Plainview, NY/Bethpage) was hit by pitch with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning forcing home pinch runner Nick Pilotti (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) as The College at Brockport Baseball team scored the winning run in an 8-7 come from behind victory Saturday over Oswego in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game that was started and suspended Friday afternoon in Lakeland, Florida. The game was completed Saturday at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Florida.
In the regularly scheduled game Saturday, Oswego (9-4 Overall, 2-1 SUNYAC) scored four runs in the fifth inning and coasted to a 9-3 victory.
In the completion of the game from Friday – the second game of a three-game series with the Lakers – Brockport (10-5, 1-2) rallied from a 7-2 deficit to score three runs and have bases loaded with one out before the game was suspended due to rain and it was agreed to complete the game Saturday before the start of the regularly scheduled third game of the conference series.
With bases loaded Saturday morning, Colin Grande (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) drew a walk on a 3-and-1 count bringing home a run for a 7-6 Oswego lead. Jake Coleman (Hilton, NY/Hilton) was next to bat and during his at-bat the runners all moved up a base on a wild pitch as Dan Hurlimann (Rochester, NY/Hilton) scored the tying run. Coleman walked on a 3-2 pitch and Tracy was the next batter for the Golden Eagles and was hit in the shoulder with a 1-1 count to force home Pilotti with the winning run.
In game three of the series, Oswego scored twice in the top of the first inning for the early lead before Brockport answered with one in the third and two in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
In the third, Mike Gianni (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) hit a one-out single and Coleman was hit by pitch. After a caught stealing eliminated Gianni and Coleman was successful in a stolen base attempt, Grande reached base on a fielding error allowing Coleman to score from second to cut the lead in half.
In the fourth, Nick Bunce (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena walked to lead off the inning and Hurlimann hit a one out double to score Bunce. Two consecutive errors on the Oswego infield allowed Hurlimann to score giving Brockport the 3-2 lead.
Oswego responded in the top of the fifth with four runs on three hits including a bases loaded triple. The Lakers added single runs in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings for the final score.
Hurlimann and Zack Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) had two hits each to pace the Brockport offense. Both of Hurlimann's hits were doubles.
