Sophomore Zack Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and freshman Wesley Burghardt (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) each had a pair of doubles and sophomore Shawn Peake (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) had a home run to pace The College at Brockport Baseball team to a doubleheader split with Oneonta Saturday afternoon in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) twinbill in Oneonta.

Brockport (19-15 Overall, 6-12 SUNYAC) won the opener 8-2 but dropped the second game 4-3 in 10 innings. Peake connected on his home run in the fourth inning of the opener with junior Mike Gianni (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) on base as Brockport took a 4-2 lead in the contest. The Golden Eagles added to the lead with three runs in the sixth inning.

Lander doubled to lead off the inning and after Burghardt walked, Gianni laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both the runners into scoring position. Peake was intentionally walked but Colin Grande (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) followed with a single scoring two runners and senior Jake Coleman (Hilton, NY/Hilton) added a single to score Grande before the inning ended.

Burghardt added a run scoring double in the seventh inning for the final run of the game.

In game two, Brockport opened the scoring with a run in the first but fell behind 2-1 as Oneonta (12-24, 7-11) scored single runs in the second and third innings. Brockport tied the score in the sixth as Coleman led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dan Hurlimann (Rochester, NY/Hilton).

In the seventh inning, Brockport took a 3-2 lead as Gianni connected on a one-out single, stole second and scored on a Grande single for the one-run lead.

Oneonta tied the score in the bottom of the eighth and won the game with a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Lander had two hits in the opener and added a double in the second game while Coleman led the Brockport hitters with two hits in the nightcap.
