Juniors Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) and Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) each scored 9.6 or better on the vault and floor exercise while senior Stephanie Schuler (Purcellville, VA/Hickory) added a 9.5 vault leading The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to a 186.900 team score which was enough to easily win the Harriett Marranca Memorial Invitational Saturday afternoon at Ithaca College.
Brockport, ranked No. 2 in the latest national poll, outscored Ithaca (176.775) and Rhode Island College (173.575) in the invitational.
Sylvestro had 9.6 scores on both the vault and floor which were the final two events for the Golden Eagles while Carney scored team-highs of 9.675 on the vault and 9.725 on floor.
Schuler opened the meet with a 9.725 score on the uneven bars and then helped with the win scoring a 9.5 on vault for the Golden Eagles.
Senior Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge) was second on the team with a 9.675 floor routine and added a 9.35 vault while freshman Jennifer Sklenar (Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) had 9.55 on both floor and balance beam in addition to a 9.2 on bars. Her 9.55 beam score was the highest on the team while Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) followed with a 9.475 on beam.
The Golden Eagles opened the meet on Bars and Beam scoring below 46 points as a team on each event but rebounded with the two scores at 47.5 or more on the final two events to seal the victory.
