Junior Stephanie Schuler (Purcellville, VA/Hickory) tied for second overall with a 9.675 score on vault and was second on bars with a 9.7 leading The College at Brockport Gymnastics team, ranked No. 1 in the country, to a fourth place team finish at the University of Pennsylvania meet Saturday in Philadelphia, PA.
Brockport finished with a 187.150 team score while Temple University won the meet with a 191.250. Penn was second with a 190.550 and Cortland took third with a 189.650.
Brockport started the competition on floor and had a team score of 47.750 after the first event as Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) led the way with a 9.75. Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) and Lily Jagodzinski (Tonawanda, NY/Williamsville North) each scored 9.6 while Jill Daddario (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) and Schuler followed each with 9.35 scores.
The Golden Eagles moved to the vault for the second event and scored well again with a 47.875 team total. Schuler, Sylvestro and Carney all tied for second with scores of 9.675 while Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge) and Gabrielle Petitto (Selden, NY/Newfield) each scored 9.425 for Brockport.
Schuler followed with her impressive 9.7 on the bars while Casey Addis (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) chipped in a 9.575 for her routine.
On the balance beam, freshman Kendal Hamer (Ocala, FL/Trinity Catholic) led Brockport with a 9.425 and Samantha Spaid (Green, OH/Green) added a 9.35 for the Golden Eagles.
