Sophomore Wesley Burghardt (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) and junior Anthony Barbetto (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) had four hits each as part of a 23-hit attack for The College at Brockport Baseball team Friday morning as the Golden Eagles posted a 19-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win over Oswego at the Chain of Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Florida.

The game was the last of eight games in Florida for Brockport (9-3 Overall, 2-1 SUNYAC) as the team finished the trip with a 7-2 record. The 15-run victory was the most lopsided win since an 18-0 victory over CCNY in 2008. The Golden Eagles had scored 29 runs in the first seven games of the Florida trip before exploding for the 19 runs against Oswego as Brockport took two of the three games in the opening SUNYAC series.

The Golden Eagles sent 14 hitters to the plate in the top of the first inning and took a 9-0 lead before Oswego (8-3, 1-2) came to bat in the game.

Eight of the nine runs in the opening inning were scored with two outs as the Lakers retired two of the first three batters of the game.

Each team scored once in the second inning and Oswego added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning to trim the lead to 9-4.

Brockport made it 10-4 in the fifth with a single run before adding four more runs in the seventh and four more in the top of the ninth inning for the final score.

Two of Burghardt's four hits were doubles and he also had a three-run single in the seventh. The sophomore second baseman finished with a team-high for runs batted in.

Mike Gianni (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), John Craig (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and Mark Lyman (Lake Grove, NY/Ward Melville) each added a double as 13 of the 15 Brockport hitters had at least one hit in the game.

Craig had three hits in the game while Dan Hurlimann (Rochester, NY/Hilton) and Gianni had two hits apiece. Burghardt led the way with four RBI and Gianni, Lyman, Brendan Swayne (Seaford, NY/Plainedge) and Barbetto each added two RBI. Gianni and Barbetto each scored three runs to lead the Golden Eagles.

Zack Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) earned the pitching victory in relief to improve to 2-0 on the season. Lander threw four shutout innings allowing two hits and striking out two. Jake Bunce (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Jimmy Lovelass (Vestal, NY/Vestal) each added an inning of shutout relief to close out the game.
