Pitchers Justin McCarthy (Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland) and Tyler Clifford (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and second baseman Anthony Barbetto (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) were all named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Baseball All-Tournament team Sunday after The College at Brockport Baseball team completed a suspended game with a 3-2 win over Oswego before falling 12-5 to Cortland in the championship round of the tournament in Cortland.

The suspended game was started Saturday afternoon but suspended in the bottom of the eighth inning due to rain and darkness with Brockport leading 3-2. The Golden Eagles scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning before Oswego tried to come back with a single run in the sixth and another run in the eighth. An Oswego runner was thrown out at the plate to end the eighth before the game was suspended.

In the fifth, Jake Kenney (Hornell, NY/Alfred-Almond) walked to open the inning before Pete Wilson (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) singled to put runners on first and second. Barbetto followed with a sacrifice bunt pushing the runners into scoring position.

Kyle Tracy (Plainview, NY/Bethpage) grounded out to the right side of the infield to score one runner and Mike Gianni (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) singled to score Wilson for the 2-0 lead.

After Gianni moved to second on a wild pitch, Wesley Burghardt (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) singled through the left side to score Gianni and give Brockport a 3-0 lead.

After the game resumed Sunday morning, only eight minutes were needed to complete the game as Oswego went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth.

Against Cortland, the Red Dragons jumped out to an early lead with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. The teams played to a 5-5 tie for the remainder of the game as Cortland won the SUNYAC title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The remainder of the field will be announced Monday, May 12. Brockport (24-14) is scheduled to play three times this week with two games against regionally ranked teams in an attempt to gain an at-large selection to the tournament.

After the first inning, Cortland scored twice in the second and each team scored a run in the third. The Red Dragons added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings before Brockport rallied for four runs in the eighth for the final score.

In the third inning, Tracy hit a one-out double down the right field line and Gianni followed with a single through the right side of the infield to score Tracy for the first Brockport run of the game.

In the eighth, Tracy walked to start the inning and Colin Grande (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was inserted as a pinch runner. With one out, Burghardt reached on a fielding error advancing Grande to second. Dan Hurlimann (Rochester, NY/Hilton) singled to left field to load the bases.

With two outs, Corey Hamula (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside) reached base on another Cortland error scoring two runners and moving Hurlimann to third base. Ray Bozek (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Lakeland) entered the game as a pinch runner and stole second base and Kenney singled to right field scoring both Hurlimann and Bozek. Kenney advanced to second on a wild pitch before Wilson walked and Kenney moved to third on a passed ball before the final out of the inning was recorded.

Kenney finished 3-for-4 with two runs batted in to lead the Brockport batters.
