Box Score

Junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) recorded her third straight double-double as The College at Brockport suffered a 56-53 loss in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game against Oswego Tuesday night in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium on the Brockport campus.

Brockport rallied with two minutes remaining in the game as Suhr made both free throws to cut the lead to five.  Forty seconds later Oswego made its first free throw before missing the second.  Junior Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) grabbed the rebound and sunk a three pointer on the following possession.  With less than a minute remaining Suhr jumped the lane and stole a Lakers pass.  The Golden Eagles had multiple attempts to tie the game as they secured three offensive rebounds but was unable to convert the game-tying basket.

In the first half Brockport jumped out to a six point lead less than two minutes into the game as Suhr drained two shots from behind the arc.  Sharp passing and aggressive defense helped Brockport take a 34-31 lead to halftime.  Pike contributed nine points in the first half, shooting 3-for-6 from behind the arc.

Brockport lost their first half lead as the Lakers went on a 12-4 to take a 43-38 lead at the 14:34 mark.  Brockport regained the lead as Suhr made two layups, both off of offensive rebounds with 13 minutes remaining.  On the ensuing possession Oswego took the lead which it never relinquished.

Suhr led the Golden Eagles with 22 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and a blocked shot. Pike finished the game with 12 points, all coming from beyond the arc. Sophomore Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) chipped in six points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) dished the ball out finishing with a team-high five assists.

The Golden Eagles continue their SUNYAC home stand this Friday at 7:30 pm against Buffalo State and Saturday at 4 pm against Fredonia.
