Box Score Junior Erin Cunningham (Marlboro, NY/Marlboro) drained a jump shot with under three minutes and secured an offensive rebound moments later to help The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team to a 60-53 win over Oneonta in a State University of New York Athletic Conference contest Friday night in Brockport.
Brockport (6-14 overall, 4-10 SUNYAC) went on a 7-2 run over a four minute span to take a 45-40 lead with under eight minutes to go in the game. Oneonta then took a three point lead until junior Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) tied the game moments later with a shot from behind the arc.
With just over four minutes remaining the Golden Eagles had a one point deficit. Cunningham connected on a jumper to grab the lead for Brockport. The Golden Eagles would not relinquish the lead after Cunningham's jumper.  Moments later Cunningham grabbed the ball for an offensive rebound. Two free throws each from Pike and junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) with less than two minutes remaining secured the win for Brockport.
Brockport trailed the Red Dragons after the first half of play trailing 29-28. Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) was the key offensive player for Brockport in the first half as she made 5-of-7 shots for 11 points. Suhr added seven points for Brockport, while Cunningham finished the first half with three assists.
On the game Welch scored a game-high 20 points while sophomore Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) finished with 11 points. Suhr contributed 13 points and eight rebounds in the victory. The Golden Eagles shot 45.5% from the floor while shooting 14-of-19 from the free throw line.
Brockport returns to action tomorrow on its home court when it hosts New Paltz at 4 pm in the annual "Play4Kay" event in which all proceeds from the men's and women's basketball game will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation.
