Box Score

Junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) had an incredible game for The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team as the Golden Eagles dropped a wild game to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent New Paltz Saturday evening. Brockport fell 72-69 during the "Play 4 Kay" event in which all proceeds from the game were donated to the Kay Yow Women's Basketball Coaches Association Cancer Fund.

Suhr had a dominating stat line as she finished the game with 33 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals. She shot an incredible 11-of-16 from the floor and was perfect from the free throw line converting all 10 of her shots.

Brockport trailed by six points with 12 minutes remaining in the game before Suhr showed off her versatile skills. The junior forward helped trim the Hawks lead when her bounce pass to Tanisha Barr (Rochester, NY/Edison) led to an easy basket. Immediately after Suhr blocked the next layup attempt from New Paltz and grabbed the defensive rebound.

Guard Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) brought the Golden Eagles within two points when she made a layup on an assist from Alyssa Rusinko (Fairport, NY/Fairport). Suhr grabbed the defensive rebound after the Hawks missed a shot on their next possession and Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) knotted the game at 50-50 when she hit a jumper from the wing.

Suhr gave the Golden Eagles the momentary lead with a shot from behind the arc after Welch passed her the ball with about nine minutes remaining. Suhr was nearly flawless in the second half, scoring 17 points as she made 5-of-7 shots from the floor.

For the remainder of the game Brockport and New Paltz went basket for basket, tying the game five more times. Brockport had a one point advantage with a minute remaining on a free throw from Welch but was unable to maintain the lead as New Paltz went on a 6-2 run to finish the game.

In the first half of play, Suhr was nearly as impressive as she scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. Welch chipped in seven points for Brockport in the first half leading the Golden Eagles to a 35-34 advantage.

Welch finished the game with 14 points and four assists. Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) and Barr added six points apiece for Brockport.

The Golden Eagles will host SUNYAC rival Cortland Tuesday at 7:30 pm in its final home contest of the season.
