Box Score 2 Senior Zack Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) dominated the opposition, striking out 14 in a 5-0 win over Oneonta as The College at Brockport Baseball Team swept State University of New York Athletic Conference opponent Oneonta (3-9 overall, 0-3 SUNYAC) in a double header Monday afternoon in Houghton.

Lander earned the win after a complete game shutout in the second game of the double header. Lander allowed only three hits and three walks while striking out a career-high 14 batters. The 14 strikeouts was the most strikeouts for a Brockport pitcher in a single game since Kris Gentzke struck out 15 on May 11, 2008.

Brockport (10-6, 3-3) scored its first run in the fifth inning after four scoreless innings. Senior
Shawn Peake was hit by a pitch to start the inning then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from senior
Brendan Swayne (Seaford, NY/Plainedge). After stealing third, junior
Greg Ruddy (Troy, NY/Troy) hit a single down the third base line that scored Peake.

In the seventh inning Brockport had two runners in scoring position with one out. Another single from Ruddy to right center scored the two Golden Eagles. Two batters later Brockport again had runners on second and third with one out. Junior
Brett Sanders (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) hit a single up the middle to score Brockport's final two runs as they held on for a 5-0 win.

In the first game of the double header Brockport won 17-5 after scoring four runs in the first to take an early 4-1 lead. Senior Anthony Bartbetto (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) drew a walk and stole second to start the game then scored on a single down the right field line from Sanders.Â

The Golden Eagles tacked on three runs in the second to extend their lead to 7-1. Barbetto scored on a single to right field from junior
Josh Martin (Depew, NY/Depew). Junior
Wesley Burghardt (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) hit a double down the left field line that scored Martin and Sanders.

Oneonta cut the deficit to two in the fourth but Brockport pulled away scoring 10 runs in the seventh inning. Brockport's bats exploded with nine hits in the inning including five doubles.  Junior
Derick Fera (Lyons, NY/Lyons) earned his first win of the season in the 17-5 win.

Barbetto finished the day 3-for-6 with four runs scored while Ruddy was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and one run scored. The Golden Eagles will face RIT on the road Tuesday then travel to Cornell for a three-game conference series against Cortland Friday and Saturday.
