Box Score Senior Dakota Stackhouse (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) went the distance Saturday afternoon as The College at Brockport Baseball team dropped a 2-0 decision to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent Plattsburgh at the Clark V. Whited Complex in Brockport.
Stackhouse retired ten straight batters beginning in the second inning. Stackhouse went on to strike out four batters and allow only one walk in nine innings pitched while giving up six hits in his second loss of the season.Â
Brockport (11-10, 4-7 SUNYAC) struggled at the plate as the team only recorded five hits and never had more than one hit in an inning. The Golden Eagles were unable to get a baserunner past first base.
In the second and fourth inning, the Golden Eagles were able to get a baserunners on first after two-out singles only to have the inning end as both runners were caught stealing. The pitchers had complete control of the game with only one walk allowed as they both pitched complete games.
The game was held scoreless until the fifth inning when Plattsburgh (9-11, 4-4) took advantage of a wild pitch and took a 1-0 lead. In the eighth inning, the Cardinals scored their second run off of a single with runners on first and third.
Senior Sean Geisel (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) went two-for-three at the plate while junior Wesley Burghardt (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) was two-for-four.
