CORTLAND, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team picked up a strong win to begin their 2017 campaign, downing SUNY Cortland 185.300-183.750
The Golden Eagles begin the season with a 1-0 record while the Red Dragons fall to 0-1.
Head coach
John Feeney's squad had a strong start on the bars, with their team score of 45.875 outmatching Cortland's 45.475.
Jen Sklenar was the event's high scorer, with a 9.300.
Stephanie Mager turned in a 9.250 while
Kaylee Wead's routine scored a 9.200.
On the vault, Brockport turned in a team score of 47.450, with an impressive 9.650 from
Bridgette Schaal to lead the way.
Paige Beckley vaulted a 9.500 while
Marla Thomas and
Allison Hester each scored a 9.450.
The Green and Gold just outscored the Red Dragons on the floor, turning in a 46.750.
Brittany Vasile scored a meet-high 9.725 in the event, while
Taylor Keough notched a 9.600.
The Golden Eagles had a strong finish in the meet, with a 45.225 score on the beam, topping Cortland's 44.050.
Kendra Bushart was the event leader, with a 9.425 on the beam while
Alexis Frakowski scored a 9.200.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Jan. 15 when they take on Rhode Island College in Providence, R.I.
