ITHACA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team kept their winning streak alive, defeating Ithaca College and Rhode Island College in a tri-meet hosted by the Bombers on Saturday to move to 6-0 on the season.
The Golden Eagles scored a strong 188.225 while Ithaca turned in a 184.950. Rhode Island was the meets low scorer with a team score of 176.775.
Brockport shined on the floor, turning in their best team score of the meet, a 47.675.
Candis Kowalik took first with a routine score of 9.675, while
Brittany Vasile was not far off, turning in a 9.575.
Taylor Keough and
Jen Sklenar each scored a 9.500 on the event.
The Green and Gold squad also had a strong showing on the beam, turning in a 47.500 overall. The Golden Eagles went one-two-three, with Kowalik scoring a season-high 9.700 on the event.
Alexis Frakowski placed second with a 9.625 while
Kendal Hamer took third with a 9.575.
With a score of 47.100 on the vault, the Golden Eagles also placed first in the event. Brockport packed the one-two punch, with
Stephanie Mager taking first with a 9.500 and Sklenar placing second with a 9.475. Vasile and
Bridgette Schaal were not far behind, with scores of 9.450 and 9.425 respectively.
Brockport scored a 45.950 on the bars, with two Golden Eagles tying for the first-place spot.
Maddie O'Braitis and
Meghan Cash each scored 9.500's on the uneven bars, with
Marla Thomas scoring a 9.225.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Jan. 28 when they compete at home for the first time in the 2017 season, playing host to Springfield College.
